Iconiq Fest: A three-day celebration of culture and amazing live performances

Iconiq fest

December is always filled with exciting events in Lagos, and in 2025, the debut of Iconiq Fest was one of them.

On December 18–20, proudly supported by major brands like Golden Penny, Coca-Cola, Tobems, and others, Iconiq Fest featured top Nigerian artists for a three-day experience of music, culture, and creativity – all held at the Landmark Event Center in Lagos.

Iconiq Fest: The Highlights

Undeniably, one of the most unique aspects of the event was how it seamlessly blended a versatile lineup across its three days.

Day one, tagged Chike Live – Detty Love, featured Chike as its headliner. The night felt full of love from the start, with fans trooping in early to witness the “love-songs doctor” perform.

A major highlight was the emotional moment when, with Chike’s help, a fan proposed to his girlfriend: Chike called the lady onstage, gave her a rose flower, and jokingly asked her questions like, ”Who is thanking God for you?” ”Do you have somebody that spends all his money on you?” – obviously making reference to his song, ”Mma (Beauty).”

Meanwhile, her boyfriend walked in from behind, knelt down, and proposed to the love of his life – thankfully, she said yes!

Afterwards, Chike continued his show, serenading the atmosphere with soulful melodies of love and companionship.

Unlike most artists, he ensured a one-on-one interaction with the crowd. According to him, performing that way helps him connect more deeply with fans.

Day two, tagged The Captain Experience, featured BNXN (Buju) as its headliner, in collaboration with artists like Qing Madi, Ruger, Emo Gre, Fola and creatives like Paper Chase.

A spectacular highlight was Buju’s second entrance, which entailed him alighting from a tricycle taxi (keke napep) with green wings, while performing “Gwagalada.”

The turnout was so massive, and the hall was packed to the extent that many people couldn’t gain access to watch the show. This sparked furious reactions from fans online, who called out the organizers, urging them to do more research on how to choose the perfect venue for future events.

However, despite the chaos, fans who gained access enjoyed every moment, including when Buju spotted a super happy fangirl in the crowd, walked toward her, and took off his shades to give to her. This act amplified her excitement, making most wish they were her.
